Fueling the economy

The UC system generates $82 billion in economic activity for the state. Nearly half of that economic impact comes from UC's academic health centers. In addition to being a significant employer, our extensive programs and community partnerships support small business growth throughout the state, while our many pathway programs train Californians for health care careers and foster upward economic mobility.

Improving access to care

Although we care for people from 99 percent of the state’s zip codes in a year, we know many Californians still face challenges to getting the care they need. We’re taking actions to improve access by reducing barriers to care, investing in community partnerships, expanding and modernizing our facilities, supporting telehealth programs, and continuing to train health care professionals of the future.
