The UCR Health expansion, the largest taken by the academic health center to date, will broaden UCR Health’s clinical footprint, with hopes to establish a regional health sciences campus.

UCR Health has announced a major clinical expansion aimed to help residents of the Inland Empire have increased access to comprehensive, high-quality services.

The announcement was celebrated with a ceremony attended by UC leadership and community partners, including City of Riverside Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson.

This expansion, the largest taken by the academic health center to date, will broaden UCR Health’s clinical footprint, with hopes to establish a regional health sciences campus.

The vision for the clinical site, which will include over 20+/- acres of land at the intersection of Valley Springs Parkway and Gateway Drive, has plans to include an outpatient diagnostic center, opportunities for medical residencies and additional expansion.

The Inland Empire, with a population of more than 4.6 million, has about 40 primary care physicians per 100,000 people, well short of the 60-80 recommended by the California Health Care Foundation.

UC leaders say the UCR Health expansion will mean better access to primary and specialty care as well as additional residencies for medical students.
