University of California Health comprises six academic health centers, 21 health professional schools, a Global Health Institute and systemwide services that improve the health of patients and the University’s students, faculty and employees. All of UC’s hospitals are ranked among the best in California and its medical schools and health professional schools are nationally ranked in their respective areas.
UC's health leaders work together to improve patient care, educate and train the next generation of health professionals, and accelerate the pace of research. Inherent within this collaborative approach is an acknowledgement that local leadership must remain able to respond to the differing needs of communities, employees, faculty and students at each location.
Each academic health center and health professional school has leadership teams that have principal responsibilities for their locations and work with campus leadership, reporting to each campus’ chancellor. UC Health system leadership reports to University of California President James B. Milliken.
