We’ll send you two forms electronically via MyUCSDChart about your health and your baby’s health for you to complete.

A donor coordinator will schedule a short call to review your forms and answer questions.

You’ll sign consent forms and medical release so we can proceed safely.

Yes, you will need a MyUCSDChart account even if you have MyChart through another health system. Each organization’s MyChart is tied to its own records. MyUCSDChart is the platform we use to securely manage donor information.

Your milk will be pasteurized, tested, and sent to fragile NICU babies and other babies in need in our region.

The milk helps the most vulnerable babies, especially very low birth weight, premature, and ill infants.

Most medications you take are safe with donation. Please reach out to your donor coordinator with specific questions.

No problem! We’ll send you a lab requisition form for a lab near you and provide shipping materials.

To ensure the safety of the milk. We test for infectious diseases that can be passed to the baby through the milk. The blood test will be paid for by the UC Health Milk Bank. 

We can accept milk expressed up to your baby’s 2nd birthday. Your milk can be frozen for up to 8 months.

Yes. First-time or shipping donors must send at least 100 ounces per shipment. Local drop-offs after the first donation have no minimum.

On average, approval takes two to three weeks. Timing depends on how quickly you complete your forms, complete the phone interview, and receive blood test results.
