The California Fund for Advancing Physician Education and Workforce Growth (also known as the Grow Grants) was established in 2025 through voter-approved Proposition 35 (2024). The fund distributes grants to invest in innovative medical education programs and projects that improve Californians' access to health care.
Applicants are encouraged to submit proposals that are designed to increase the number of physicians in high-need specialties, expand training in shortage regions, and/or enhance care for uninsured, underinsured and Medi-Cal patients in California.
The Grow Grants will prioritize medical education programs and projects that demonstrate measurable impact, scalability, and the potential to strengthen access to care in the regions where physicians are needed most.
